What a shame. It looks like it's still ready for use.

By the angle this photograph was taken and the lighting, it does look like the pool has got water in it. Very odd. But I like odd things :3

Beautiful! This seems to be abandoned for not so long now, as it looks useable right away. Where have you found this object?

Well, the building is still being taken care of. It's located in Germany, btw.

Very pretty, I saw it's being looked after? (previous comment)

I wonder if it will be put as a pool or something instead?

Hm, I am not sure. The bath has been vacant for several years now...

Aww. It would have been neat to see it re-vamped as an indoor pool. :I

it is hard to believe this is abandoned, but i can guess that with little funding available in the public market, beautiful structures such as this are simply closed. to the comments regarding a lack of structural integrity, based on this picture alone, it does not appear to have any differential settlement, hairline cracks in either the pool area, around any of the columns, nor in the ceiling plane, which are typical signs that a particular building has begun a structural decline. it appears to me that someone recently closed the doors due to a lack of funds and for the time being, is keeping trespassers out. which begs the question, how did you get this shot? it is a spectacular use of natural light via the clerestory and through the main entry.

AS far as I know, the main reason for closing the bath were energy costs. The redevelopment was found to be too expensive (well, it has three big pools!), so the city closed this place in the mid 90ies. I managed to get a permit to shoot in this place last year (not uncommon, it's quite easy to get.. I only had to pay 70EUR for a whole weekend)

Interesting; I kind of figured it became abandoned due to a safety issue.
